I haven't blogged much lately, but I've sure seen a heck of a lot of snow. It's not that I don't have something to say. I'm pretty talkative most of the time. Perhaps my muse has taken a vacation to where it's sunny and warm, not slushy and chilly. At times, this break from writing worries me. The days are very busy right now, and I can't complain. As my son said the other day, "It'll come. Your intellectual curiosity is saturated lately." Sometimes I question how accurately he can put things. I mean, I'm the parent, right? I'm supposed to have all the words of wisdom flowing from my maternal mind. Is it a testament to parental success that those we've nurtured have become fine adults? His degree is in philosophy. I guess it shows :)
So amidst new changes in my life, all of them pretty good, I'll don my author hat for two new promotional activities I've listed below. In addition, the music teacher will re-emerge to sub for a fellow colleague at a local university this month. I'm looking forward to talking about portfolio assessment in the general music class. First and foremost, the teacher in me gets excited about guiding a room full of novice educators who soon will be out there looking for a job. If just a fraction of my discussion stays with them, then I'll have done a small part in preparing them for the classroom.
Here's hoping all this white stuff melts very soon. Stay warm and safe, everyone ~ Mickey
